The raceme has 2-6 flowers, borne at the top of the flower stalk, which can be up to 30 cm long, emerging from the base of the plant; the flower stalk is 5-15 mm long; the bracts are 1 cm long, with 2 small bracts, each 5 mm long. The calyx is bell-shaped, 13-20 mm long, with calyx teeth about 5-7 mm long and wide, with a tail-like pointed apex, and the base of the calyx teeth is broader than long. The corolla is bell-shaped, red, about 6.5 cm long and 3.5 cm in diameter, with a corolla tube about 5 cm long, and 5 lobes that are semi-circular and spreading. There are 4 stamens, 2 of which are longer, with filaments about 2.5 cm long; the anthers are oval and attached in a T-shape. The style is about 3 cm long, with a flat, fan-shaped stigma. The capsule is woody, 4-angled, gray-brown, 5-7.5 cm long. The seeds are broad oval, hairless on top, hairy underneath, 5 mm long, 3-3.7 mm wide, with wings 1 mm wide. The flowering period is in July.
