Deli - Gao Dan Cao
Utilization of domestic small silage equipment: low price, easy operation, suitable for small plots. The harvesting process suffers from significant losses, especially with severe ear drop in corn, leading to a high failure rate; overall market situation for river merchants: prices are low due to abundant supply (mainly because some farmers do not harvest small corn ears and directly transport them to dairy farms), resulting in insufficient promotion of silage-specific corn.

Product Description
1. Variety Advantages
Deli Gaodan grass is a new variety approved by the Third National Forage Variety Approval Committee, created by hybridizing sorghum and Sudan grass based on the principle of hybrid vigor. Deli Gaodan grass combines the advantages of thick sorghum stems, wide leaves, and the strong tillering and regrowth ability of Sudan grass, with low cyanide content making it safe for consumption, showing significant hybrid vigor. With one sowing, it can be cut multiple times, yielding a total of 8,000 to 10,000 kilograms per mu, and under sufficient fertilization and irrigation conditions, the total yield can reach 14,000 to 20,000 kilograms. The crude protein and crude fat in the hay are higher than those of the parent plants, and it has a high sugar content, making it suitable for silage. It can be used to feed cattle, sheep, goats, geese, and fish.
Deli Gaodan grass is the latest hybrid combination of Sudan grass, with extremely high fresh grass yield, fully demonstrating the advantages of hybrids. It is widely promoted and applied in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, and other regions, making it a high-quality forage for aquaculture.
2. Characteristics Overview
1. High Yield: The fresh grass yield is about 10,000 kilograms per mu, with high yields reaching over 20,000 kilograms.
2. Good Quality: Analysis shows that the crude protein and crude fat percentages of Gaodan grass are 2.49% and 0.6% of fresh weight, respectively, while the percentages of dry weight reach 14.07% and 3.39%. Generally, 12-15 kilograms of fresh grass can produce 0.5 kilograms of live fish.
3. Good Palatability: Trials in various regions indicate that fish particularly enjoy eating Gaodan grass, which can be completely consumed by fish, while Sudan grass leaves behind residual stems.
4. Strong Resistance: Due to hybrid vigor, the root system is well-developed and has strong absorption capacity.
3. Growth Characteristics
Deli Gaodan grass has a well-developed root system, with stems reaching 2-3 meters in height, strong tillering ability, and abundant leaf volume. Deli Gaodan grass is a warm-loving plant, with a longer period of vegetative growth, higher digestibility, and greater yield, as well as strong drought resistance, heat tolerance, and moderate cold tolerance. In areas with moderate rainfall or irrigation conditions, high yields can be obtained, with a grazing period generally from May to October. The minimum germination temperature for seeds is 8-10°C, and the optimal germination temperature is 20-30°C. Gaodan grass is a photoperiod-sensitive plant, exhibiting excellent late-maturing characteristics, with a longer nutritional period compared to general varieties. It has no strict soil requirements and can be planted in sandy soil, slightly acidic soil, and lightly saline-alkaline land. It has high nutritional value, good palatability, strong regrowth ability, and strong tillering ability. Under irrigation conditions, it can be cut 3-4 times in the north and 6-8 times in the south, with a maximum fresh grass yield of 13 tons per mu. It is suitable for green feeding, silage, and can also be directly grazed or made into hay.
4. Planting Key Points
1. Sowing Period: Suitable soil temperature is 15°C, spring sowing is recommended, preferably from Qingming to Grain Rain.
2. Sowing Method: Can be sown in rows or holes. The sowing amount per mu is 1.0-1.5 kilograms, with a sowing depth of 2-3 cm, and row spacing of 15-30 centimeters.
3. Careful Management to Prevent Pests: When planting Gaodan grass, it is also important to strengthen field management. Timely and sufficient supply of water and fertilizer is the guarantee for high yield. After emergence, it is necessary to cultivate 2-3 times and promptly remove weeds; diseases occur rarely, with aphids being the main pest to monitor and control.
4. Timely Cutting to Promote Regrowth: The regrowth of Gaodan grass relies on the buds on the stubble left above ground. Therefore, each cutting should not leave the stubble too low, ensuring that 1-2 nodes are left above ground, with a recommended stubble height of 10-15 cm.
5. Change Seeds Annually to Ensure High Yield: Since Gaodan grass is a hybrid of sorghum and Sudan grass, its high yield relies on the advantages of the hybrid generation, so it should not be self-seeded.
