The bamboo garden meticulously created by the Jinan Botanical Garden has recently opened to the public. The scenic area has made significant efforts in landscape planning, plant configuration, and construction techniques, drawing extensively from the successful experiences of famous gardens such as Beijing's Zizhuyuan and Yangzhou's Ge Garden. With an architectural style featuring high mountains and flowing water, as well as pavilions surrounded by streams, it aims to create a large-scale, diverse bamboo specialty garden in northern Jiangsu.
The bamboo garden covers a total area of 652 square meters for buildings, 5,000 square meters for roads and squares, 3,000 square meters for excavated streams and lakes, 1,600 tons of stacked revetment and rockery stones, and 6,000 meters of installed water and electricity pipelines, along with 3,000 square meters of newly laid Maimeng grass and turf. The newly established bamboo garden has introduced many new varieties of ornamental bamboo, including nearly 30 species such as Mao bamboo, Turtle shell bamboo, and Purple bamboo. Among them, there are nearly 150,000 tall ornamental bamboos like Dan bamboo, Gang bamboo, and Jinxiangyu, as well as 36,000 clusters of ground-covering bamboos like Feihuang and Feibai. To highlight the theme of the bamboo garden, the scenic area focuses on "creating bamboo culture" as a key point, striving to build it into a comprehensive platform that integrates bamboo science education, craft display, and cultural landscape exhibition. It includes three exhibition rooms on bamboo ecology, bamboo and life, and bamboo and art, as well as sales of bamboo crafts and a tea room. To enrich the landscape effects within the garden, a large number of real bamboo or bamboo-like crafts have been used, such as tea houses, long pavilions, Frosty bamboo pavilions, bamboo rafts, bamboo woven corridors, and real bamboo flower racks.
